If you are a registered owner of our First Strike or Sathero meters, you can request a current satellite/transponder list. However the list is extensive and usually has about 139 pages. So what do you do? Print it out? Take it with you up on a roof in the wind with a meter in one hand and the list in the other hand.

Even less convenient is to carry your laptop with you. Now you just need to contend with boot up time, battery charges, and protecting your laptop in your service truck. What else can you do?

Can't load your meter? Try cleaning your computer.

Can't get your Sathero Meter or First Strike Meter to load? You know the software is mature and well tested by many meter owners. I actually get a few emails or calls complaining about the software not loading. In most cases this problem can be solved by cleaning the computer. I've put together a short article on this that I've been sending out for years simply named Clean Computers.

It is always good to keep your computer clean. It helps avoid virus's and malware.

New shipments of the SM-3500 will be shipped with the battery disconnected. If you receive a new SM-3500 and it won't fire up, remove the battery door and connect the battery before charging or using.

Disconnecting the battery helps preserve the battery life while the meter is in storage. Li-on batteries should never be completely discharged to avoid damage.

If you store your meter and leave the battery connected, you should charge the battery every 20 days to avoid damage. With proper care you battery can be charged thousands of times.

Over charging can also damage Li-on batteries. Your first charge should be no more than 10 hours charging time. After the first charge, charge no more than 5 hours at a time.
